Microfiber is a synthetic fiber made from materials like polyester and nylon. Due to how it’s made, it’s typically much finer than natural fabrics like denim or wool. Microfiber is soft and durable and is highly absorbent, making it a versatile fabric. Purex® shares how to care for microfiber clothing and fabrics to keep them looking brand new.
Microfiber is a fabric commonly used for cleaning clothes, towels, and mops. Since it’s created with finer fabrics, it can effectively capture dirt, dust, and particles.
It's common for microfiber to be found in clothing like athletic apparel, swimwear, and underwear since it absorbs liquid easily and is very absorbent.
Before washing microfiber, group your items by their intended use and fabric type. For example, wash microfiber towels separately from clothing with microfiber. When washing microfiber, use cool water and the gentle cycle setting with Purex® detergent. All Purex® liquid detergents and Purex® Pacs are compatible with High Efficiency (HE) and standard washers, offering quality results at an affordable price.
Don’t put microfiber in the dryer after washing. Instead, let the fiber drip dry.
Always check the label when handling microfiber. Sometimes microfiber garments can include rayon. If it does, avoid using chlorine bleach and do not twist or wring.
